Glad you asked! There are so many reasons to consider bamboo fabrics for your little one over other fabrics available on the market. Here are just a few of the many reasons we use bamboo in our products at Natural Kids.
Bamboo fabrics are softer than the softest cotton against the skin. That’s thanks to its natural surface sheen, which gives it a feel not dissimilar to cashmere or silk.
Did you know that bamboo absorbs water three to four times better than cotton alone, keeping skin comfortable, rather than sticky, in the warm weather? That’s because it has a natural moisture wick, whipping water away from the body and transferring it to the surface of the fabric to evaporate. This is really important with newborn bubs, as they have a hard time self-regulating their body temperatures when first born. We’re talking approximately two to three degrees cooler in summer and warmer in winter. How amazing is that?
Not only is bamboo super soft and absorbent, it’s also anti-fungal, anti-static and naturally hypoallergenic. Therefore, it prevents odour, allergies and skin irritations from occurring and is perfect for little ones with eczema. Best of all, bamboo fabrics are naturally anti-microbial, requiring no added, harmful chemicals during production. “Bamboo kun”, a natural agent within the bamboo, also prevents bacteria from cultivating. Incidentally, bamboo is grown without using pesticides or chemical fertilisers, and the fibre is 100 per cent biodegradable.
